Kothagudem: Telangana Forest Development Corporation Limited chairman and ex-MLA Podem Veeraiah expressed anger over a clash among the Youth Congress activists at Gandhi Bhavan on Wednesday.
He strongly condemned the incident wherein some Youth Congress activists belonging to the Kothagudem district were beaten up by party leaders.
The matter was taken to the notice of TPCC president B Mahesh Kumar Goud seeking action against those who assaulted Kothagudem YC activists.
If there were any issues in the party, the activists should sit together to resolve them but it was not proper to resort to physical attacks against one another.
The party leadership should take steps to prevent such incidents from repeating in the future, Veeraiah, the district Congress president, said.
Meanwhile, a group of Youth Congress workers staged a protest at Bhadrachalam in the district on Thursday against the Gandhi Bhavan incident.
They took out a protest rally from the Bridge Centre to the Ambedkar Centre in the town.
They wanted the accused to be booked under the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act for beating up a Dalit activist.
The activists displayed a flex banner asking the party leadership to protect the prestige of the Youth Congress.
