Hyderabad: In yet another incident of police high handedness, a shop keeper was brutally thrashed with lathis at Borabanda on Tuesday night.
The man Meraj, runs a panshop at Borabanda and around 12.30 am an Assistant Sub Inspector and a policemen in plain clothes came to the shop in a patrol vehicle. The policemen got down from the vehicle and hit two people including Meraj badly.
Although, the man pleaded for mercy, the policemen one after the other continued to hit him with batons.
The police argued that he had kept the shop open beyond the stipulated timings.
After the police left the place the injured man informed his relatives who reached the spot and shifted him to hospital where he is undergoing treatment.
The local people are angry over the action of the police.
