Uttar Pradesh Chief Secretary Manoj Kumar Singh assured stakeholders in the electronics industry of timely disbursement of State incentives.

“The government is committed to providing all possible support by implementing manufacturing-conducive policies that promote investments across the electronics value chain and facilitating housing infrastructure for workers in the electronics clusters,” said Singh during a discussion organised by the Indian Cellular and Electronics Association (ICEA).

He also spoke of government support to private entities for setting up manufacturing clusters. Electronics manufacturers such as Dixon, Micromax, Karbon, Amber, Zetwerk, etc. attended the event.

UP as electronics hub

The discussions focused on industry concerns and strategies to make Uttar Pradesh a premier hub for electronics manufacturing. According to the ICEA, Uttar Pradesh has emerged as a cornerstone of India’s electronics manufacturing landscape. In FY24, the State accounted for approximately 40-45 per cent of India’s electronics production and around 60 per cent of the nation’s mobile phone production by value. It also contributes approximately 15.3 per cent to the country’s electronics exports and approximately 25 per cent to mobile phone exports.

Pankaj Mohindroo, Chairman of ICEA, said, “Uttar Pradesh should contribute significantly to India’s $500-billion electronics manufacturing goal by 2030, with a major share of $200 billion. Furthermore, UP must undertake aggressive global outreach and should consider establishing international offices, which will facilitate the integration with global value chains (GVCs) and draw major international brands to India.”

Anil Sagar, State Principal Secretary, Infrastructure and Industrial Development Department, also urged industry stakeholders to utilise Uttar Pradesh’s Electronics and Semiconductor Policy. “Our policy framework is designed to support and accelerate the growth of electronics and semiconductor manufacturing in the State.”

Uttar Pradesh Electronics Manufacturing Policy 2020 provides fiscal incentives to establish the State as a global hub for electronics manufacturing.
