Nirmal: Two persons, who were arrested for allegedly stealing offerings and sacred bells of a temple, confessed to committing the crime to party in view of the New Year. They were produced before media persons in Bhainsa town on Thursday.

Briefing details of the arrest, Superintendent of Police Dr Janaki Sharmila said that Vishal and his friend Sangha Rathan from Chuchund village were apprehended for stealing offerings and bells of the Naga Devatha deity at the village on Tuesday. She said that the police cracked the theft case within 48 hours.


On being interrogated, Vishal and Rathan admitted to committing the offence in order to party during the new year using the offerings and funds gained through selling the bells. They disclosed that they stole the bells when they could not find insufficient funds from the hundials of the temple.

Bhainsa police registered a case and took up investigations. They scanned CCTV footage installed in the town to identify the culprits.

Sharmila commended Bhainsa ASP Avinash Kumar and Inspector Gopinath and his team for quickly nabbing the accused persons.
