Mancherial: A migrant tigress returned to forests of Kannala village in Bellampalli mandal on Sunday, triggering panic among residents of around 10 villages.
Forest officials said the tigress named B1, which was roaming in the forests of Dubbagudem and Varipet villages in Kasipet mandal till Saturday, came back to the forests of Kannala again. The tigress migrated to the district from Kumram Bheem Asifabad district and had stayed at Kannala before drifting towards Kasipet on February 3.
The officials said steps were being taken to track the movement of the tigress, to ensure its safety and to prevent human loss. They stated that awareness was being created among the villagers over the movement of the tigress. They urged the villagers not to enter agriculture fields till 10 am and leave farms by 4 pm, besides avoiding sudden confrontation with the tigress.
Meanwhile, people belonging to Kannala, Kothavaripet, Pathavaripet, Gundlapadu, Lingadharigudem, Ankusam, Peddaramulu, Somagudam, Station Peddanapalli, Kuntaramulu Basti, Dubbagudem, Laxmipur, Gandhinagar villages in Kasipet and Bellampalli mandals were living in the grip of fear, following the movement of the tiger for 11 days.
They requested the officials to divert the tigress into the core of Kawal Tiger Reserve.
