Tenant farmer electrocuted in Karimnagar

Karimnagar: A tenant farmer Oggari Prashant was electrocuted in Kurikyala of Gangadhara mandal on Tuesday early morning.

According to police, Prashant suffered an electric shock while trying to switch on an agricultural pump set at around 6 am. He died on the spot. Prashant, who cultivated paddy by leasing three acres of land, was trying to switch on the pump-set to supply water to his standing crop. He is survived by his wife and three children.


Based on a complaint lodged by Uma, Prashant’s wife, police registered a case and began investigation.

Knowing about the incident, BRS leader and former MLA Sunke Ravishankar reached the hospital mortuary and consoled the family members. He alleged that Prashant died due to negligence of the State government. The situation he was in had emerged due to irregular supply of electricity. Ravishankar also demanded the government to provide Rs.15 lakh as ex gratia to the kin of the deceased farmer.
