Mancherial: BJP district president N Venkateshwar Goud alleged that policemen were becoming puppets of the ruling Congress.
He lodged a complaint with Deputy Commissioner of Police A Bhaskar alleging that Naspur Sub-Inspector assaulted activists of the party here on Friday.
Speaking to mediapersons, Goud said certain police officials were targeting opposition parties to appease the public representatives from the Congress. He opined that bias by the police mechanism was not a good sign. He alleged that local MLA K Premsagar Rao was terrorising the public using police force.
He further alleged that the Congress workers created a war-like situation by pelting stones at the BJP workers even as policemen remained mute spectators. He said the Congress was undergoing fear of defeat after noticing huge support to the BJP from electors.
The district president wanted the DCP to take stringent action against Sub-Inspector N Sugunakar for slapping Kamalakar Rao, a senior leader of the BJP, at a polling station during elections to MLC in Naspur mandal centre on Thursday.
