Hyderabad: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy said the State government would provide training to Muslim youth heading to Middle East countries at Advanced Technology Centres (ATCs) and take up the responsibility of their jobs.

In case, if there were any issues regarding their employment, the State government would fight on behalf of them. Many youngsters from Muslim community were heading to Middle East countries in search of jobs without learning any technical skills and facing troubles and were unable to come back due to humiliation, he said.

Considering all these factors, the youth would be trained at ATC in Mallepally as per industry requirements, the Chief Minister said after laying foundation for upgrading Industrial Training Institutes (ITI) as Advanced Technology Centres (ATCs) at Mallepally here on Tuesday.

There was lot of requirement of skilled manpower in the construction sector across the country. The State government has already entered into a 10-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Tata Technologies Limited (TTL) to upgrade 65 ITIs as ATCs in the State with a cost of Rs.2,324.21 crore. Of these, the State government will contribute Rs.307.96 crores (13.26 percent) and TTL’s share is Rs.2016.25 crores (86.74 percent).

The objective behind upgrading the ITIs as ATCs is to help youth hone their skills and meet the growing industrial requirements of skilled manpower. After undergoing training at these centres, youth can set up their own companies, he said.

“I will regularly monitor this department and review the performance every month,” Revanth Reddy said, adding that the existing ITIs were following 40 to 50 years old curriculum, which was serving no purpose to the youth. The Chief Minister said the State government was determined to promote Telangana as the destination for skilled youth force for employment generation. After considering different factors, these ATCs concept was finalized and about Rs.50 crore was being spent on upgrading each centre, he said.

As part of training the youth in ATCs, advanced equipment and technology will be installed in ATCs. TTL has already employed 130 experts to impart training for youth at the ATCs. Accordingly, 5,860 people would be trained in six types of long-term courses annually. Training in short term courses would be offered to 31,200 people. In the next 10 years, four lakh people would be trained at the ATCs. The ATCs would not only offer training in various courses but also act as skill development centres. The ATCs would also play the role of Technology Centers (Technology Hub) for aspiring entrepreneurs in small, micro, medium and large scale industries.
