Mancherial: A migrant tiger, that remained elusive from camera traps and forest officials for the last few days, was sighted near a nursery at Bopparam village in Nennal mandal under Kushnepalli range on Monday, triggering panic among villagers.
Forest officials said the tiger drifted towards Nennal mandal by crossing busy NH 363 after wandering in different parts of Bellampalli and Thandur mandal for a few weeks. They stated that concerted efforts were being made to keep an eye on the tiger, besides taking preventive measures to avoid human loss.
CCTV cameras were installed, while awareness was created among the villagers.
Titled B1, the tigress was spotted in the forests and agriculture fields of Kannala, Dubbagudem, Ameenguda and other parts of Bellampalli, Kasipet and Thandur mandals before straying into Nennal.
Locals expressed concern over their safety following movement of the tigress. They urged the forest officials to take appropriate steps to prevent human loss.
The tigress from Kumram Bheem Asifabad district had migrated to Mancherial in search of territory in December.
