Telangana: Chalivagu check dam damaged in Bhupalpally’s Chityala mandal
The damaged check dam built across Chalivagu at Nawabupet in Chityala mandal of Bhupalpally district.

Bhupalpally: Unidentified persons have damaged a check dam built across Chalivagu at Nawabupet in Chityala mandal in the district by causing a breach in it.

As a result of the breach, water stored in the dam drained out much to the agony of farmers who took up rabi cultivation in the lands upper side of the check dam. It was alleged that the villagers in Tekumatla mandal might have caused the breach to irrigate crops in the lower part of the check dam in the mandal.


With the water flowing down from the dam, the farmers around Nawabpet in Chityala mandal were worried that their crops might be damaged due to lack of water.

It was said that farmers in Tekumatla mandal have repeatedly taken the issue of irrigation water to the attention of the local MLA Gandra Satyanarayana Rao but he has ignored them. The MLA’s alleged indifferent attitude towards the farmers might have made them breach the check dam.
