Rajanna Sircilla: BRS activists staged a protest at the Gambhiraopet police station demanding registration of cases against Congress workers who had attacked them over a protocol issue triggered a conflict between both sides on Thursday.
Trouble began when BRS workers questioned officials for not placing a photograph of local MLA KT Rama Rao at the local paddy procurement centre. Congress leaders, who were present at the spot, entered into an argument with the BRS workers and pushed them out of the centre, leading to a clash. Police intervened and brought the situation under control and shifted the BRS workers to the police station.
Knowing about the illegal arrest of the party workers, BRS activists from different mandals gathered at the police station and staged a protest demanding registration of cases against the Congress leaders who attacked the BRS workers.
Yellareddypet mandal president Varusa Krishnahari and Reddy Sangam district president Gundarapu Krishna Reddy, who tried to visit the police station, were prevented at Venkatapur by the Sircilla police.
The protest was later withdrawn after the police assured cases against Congress leaders involved in the attack. Meanwhile, Congress activists entered an argument with the police for summoning ruling party leaders to the police station.
