Sangareddy: GHMC assures eco-friendly waste management at Pyaranagar amid villagers’ protest

Sangareddy: Additional Commissioner (Transport and Sanitation) Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) CN Raghu Prasad said that the waste at Integrated Municipal Solid Waste Management site at Pyaranagar will be treated using European technology and it would cause no harm to the environment.

When the GHMC officials arrived at Pyaranagar with waste carrying vehicles to start the construction of the dump yard on Tuesday night, the villagers opposed the move sternly. The police took 45 villagers of Pyaranagar and Nallavalli into custody and resumed their work by deploying a huge number of police.

Speaking to news reporters at Gummadidala on Wednesday, Raghu Prasad said they had plans to set up the dump yard at Pyaranagar since 2008. He further said that they had acquired 150 acres of land in 2015 from the revenue department.

The Additional Commissioner said that they had acquired all the permissions and completed the formalities by 2023. Since they need to lay an approach road to the site, he said that the works of the dump yard were delayed a bit. The GHMC Additional Commissioner said that they would dump 2,000 trucks of waste every day by roping in 130 trucks every day. Executive Engineer Srinivas Reddy said that the technology used here would be far more advanced compared to Jawahar Nagar dump yard. “It does not allow any stench to escape and no garbage will be dumped in the open”, he said.

He said that the waste will be carried in modern vehicles which would look like oil tanks. The compressed waste will be transported in the tank. The waste will be dumped in bunkers. The yard will have 48 MW waste to energy power plant.
