Hyderabad: Director Sandeep Reddy Vanga, known for his intense and raw storytelling, recently revealed that he originally wanted Sai Pallavi to play the lead role in Arjun Reddy.
Speaking at the Thandel pre-release event, where he was a special guest, Sandeep shared that he had approached a casting director about her. However, he was informed that Sai Pallavi wouldn’t accept the role due to her discomfort with revealing outfits, let alone the intimate scenes required by the script.
Despite this, Vanga praised Sai Pallavi for staying true to her values and not changing to fit industry expectations.
The filmmaker, known for blockbusters like Arjun Reddy and Animal, has often faced criticism for alleged misogyny in his films, yet his ability to set new trends in Indian cinema remains undeniable.
Meanwhile, Thandel had a grand pre-release event on Sunday.
Directed by Chandoo Mondeti, the film stars Naga Chaitanya and Sai Pallavi in the lead roles. It is produced by Bunny Vas under Geetha Arts.
Thandel is set to release in Telugu, Tamil, and Hindi on February 7.
