Hyderabad: Hyderabad maintained a strong position as Himachal Pradesh trailed by 269 runs in their follow-on innings on day three of the Ranji Trophy Group B match in Hyderabad on Thursday.
After posting a commanding first-innings total of 565, Hyderabad’s bowlers, led by Anikethreddy’s five-wicket haul, restricted Himachal Pradesh to 275, securing a massive 290-run first-innings lead and enforcing the follow-on.
Resuming the day at 33/1, Himachal Pradesh showed resistance with Shubham Arora scoring a patient 53 off 132 balls, and Akash Vashist contributing 46 runs. Innesh Mahajan fought valiantly with an unbeaten 68, but regular breakthroughs from Hyderabad’s bowlers, including two wickets from Tanay Thyagarajan and one each from Saranu Nishanth and Varun Goud, ensured that Himachal Pradesh couldn’t close the gap.
Following on, Himachal Pradesh ended the day at 21/0 in their second innings. Shubham Arora was unbeaten on 16, while Prashant Chopra remained on 1 and faces an uphill task to save the match on final day.
