India continued with Operation Sindoor, targeting the air defence radars of Pakistan to give a befitting response to last night’s aggression shown by the Islamabad by engaging a number of military targets in northern and western part of the country.
The Pakistan used missiles and drones to zero in on military installations in Srinagar, Jammu, Pathankot, Amritsar, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Adampur, Bhatinda, Chandigarh, Nal, Phalodi, Uttarlai, and Bhuj on the May 7 night.
“These were neutralised by the integrated counter UAS grid and air defence systems. The debris of these attacks is now being recovered from a number of locations that prove the Pakistani attacks,” the Ministry of Defence said in a statement on Thursday.
This was despite, the aerial military assault, to avenge April 22 Pahalgam terror strike leaving 26 dead and 17 others injured, which was “focused, measured and non-escalatory” and did not target any Pakistan military establishment, the MoD said.
The Ministry reiterated in its readout, that any attack on military targets in India will invite a suitable response.
Since Sharif government continued with its military adventure, Indian Armed Forces on Thursday morning targeted air defence radars and systems at a number of locations in Pakistan. “Indian response has been in the same domain with same intensity as Pakistan. It has been reliably learnt that an Air Defence system at Lahore has been neutralised,” the Ministry stressed.
Pakistan’s Air Defence unit of HQ-9 air defence launchers have suffered heavy damage in the latest counter offensive launched in ten cities, said sources. It learnt that the unit was developed with the assistance of China.
Unconfirmed reports suggest that the Indian Air Force fired Russian origin S-400 Sudarshan Chakra air defence missile systems last night against incoming from Pakistan. The IAF controls the air defence system in case of war.
Metal debris of fired missile was found scattered at some places in a village in Amritsar district on Thursday. Some locals found the metal parts in open fields and houses at Jethuwal village of the district. Though villagers claimed they were part of a missile, local police said the objects can be identified only after an investigation.
Pakistan, meanwhile, has increased the intensity of its unprovoked firing across the Line of Control using mortars and heavy calibre artillery in areas in Kupwara, Baramulla, Uri, Poonch, Mendhar and Rajouri sectors in Jammu and Kashmir.
Sixteen innocent lives have been lost, including three women and five children, due to Pakistani firing at innocent persons. Of them, ten have succumbed in the Poonch sector alone and people coming under heavy shelling have been shifted to safer places, Jammu and Kashmir administration sources stated.
India was compelled to respond to bring the mortar and artillery fire from Pakistan to a halt, the MoD stated.
Indian Armed Forces reiterated their commitment to non-escalation, provided it is respected by the Pakistani military.
Sources stated that Pakistan’s response is borne out of the move to send message to its own people that it’s indulging in befitting counter military measures to overcome shock of heavy blow India gave by targeting nine terrorist camps deep inside their territory in Punjab and Pakistan Occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
Sources in the political parties said that Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Thursday told an all-party meeting that at least 100 terrorists were neutralised in the Operation Sindoor.
