Mumbai’s Tata Memorial Hospital received an email on Friday morning indicating a potential security threat, hospital authorities said.

Though the message did not contain specific details, the hospital buildings were evacuated in a phased manner to ensure the safety of patients, staff, and visitors, the administration said.

“Clinical operations were temporarily scaled down during the inspection period,” a statement from the hospital added.

Security personnel and local police inspected the premises and confirmed that the threat was a hoax. The building was subsequently declared safe, and normal operations have since resumed, said Tata Memorial Hospital Director CS Pramesh.

Reports stated that efforts were underway to trace the source of the hoax email regarding a potential bomb threat. Security at the cancer hospital has since been beefed up.
