Kothagudem: A CPI (Maoist) party PLGA first battalion member carrying a cash reward of Rs 1 lakh surrendered before the Kothagudem police and CRPF 141 Bn officials on Tuesday.
The naxal, Madivi Eitha alias Mangu of Jeelorgadda village under Pamed police station limits in Bijapur district of Chhattisgarh joined Maoists in June 2020 under the battalion headed by Hidma. He took part in many violent incidents along with party cadres.
Eitha decided to surrender as the police camps were being set up in Maoist affected areas in Bijapur district. He chose to surrender to Kothagudem police because the ‘Operation Cheyutha’ programme of the district police impressed him, said Superintendent of Police B Rohith Raju.
The SP appealed to the underground Maoist cadres to surrender to police through their friends, relatives or the local police. The police would ensure to provide them all the rehabilitation benefits offered by the State government to them, he added.
Additional SP (operations) T Sai Manohar and others were present.
