Hyderabad: Opposition leader in the Legislative Council S Madhusudhana Chary on Tuesday raised serious objections over not convening the special session of the Legislative Council to pay tributes to former Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh who passed away on December 26. The special session of the Legislative Assembly was convened on Monday to pay tributes to the former Prime Minister and also passed a resolution urging the Centre to honour him with the Bharat Ratna.
In his letter to Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, Madhusudana Chary lamented that the Legislative Council was not convened to condole the demise of former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. “As Dr Manmohan Singh served in the Upper House of the Parliament for a long time, it would have been appropriate to convene the Legislative Council and give an opportunity to its members to pay tributes to him. I am compelled to write this letter to convey the heartbreak of all the MLCs and also request you to ensure that such unfair treatment is avoided in future,” he said.
