Hyderabad: BRS president and former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao paid rich tributes to Dr BR Ambedkar, marking his birth anniversary on Monday. He hailed the architect of the Indian Constitution as a visionary who dedicated his life to social justice and upliftment of the oppressed.

In a statement, Chandrashekhar Rao said Ambedkar’s vision laid the foundation for modern India, especially through the inclusion of Article 3, which enabled the creation of Telangana. He stated that the Telangana movement succeeded within the constitutional framework envisioned by Ambedkar.

Recalling his government’s initiatives, the former Chief Minister said flagship schemes such as Dalit Bandhu, were rooted in Ambedkar’s ideals of equality and empowerment. “We strived to govern with the spirit of Ambedkar’s ideals. Naming the State Secretariat after him and installing the world’s tallest 125-foot Ambedkar statue near the Secretariat are tributes to his legacy,” he added.

Chandrashekhar Rao urged the current Congress government to continue the welfare schemes initiated by the BRS government with sincerity. “Only then can we truly honour the legacy of this towering figure who elevated the dignity of the Indian nation,” he asserted.
