Jharkhand Assembly Election Results Live 2024:
After trailing in the initial rounds, Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren’s JMM-led INDIA bloc made a stunning comeback and is currently ahead in more than 50 seats in the 81-member state assembly. The BJP-led NDA, which had a massive lead when the counting started today, is now leading in 26 seats.
The counting of votes for the Jharkhand assembly elections began at 8 am and is expected to conclude in the next few hours.
The JMM of Hemant Soren fought in 41 assembly seats and gave the remaining ones to its allies – Congress (30 seats), Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) (6), and Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) (4). The BJP contested 68 seats, while its allies, the All Jharkhand Students Union (AJSU) fought in 10, the Janata Dal (United) in two, and the Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) in one.

Votes are also being counted for the Maharashtra assembly elections and for the bypolls to 48 Assembly seats in 14 states and in the Lok Sabha segments of Nanded in Maharashtra and Wayanad in Kerala. Congress’ Priyanka Gandhi Vadra is making her poll debut from Wayanad, a seat that was earlier represented in the Lok Sabha by her brother, Rahul Gandhi.

As of 4 pm, the BJP has received the maximum vote share (32.96%) followed by the JMM (23.01%) and Congress (15.66%).

The INDIA bloc has now taken 7 seats, including 6 by the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha and 1 by the CPI(ML)(L). The BJP and the Jharkhand Loktantrik Krantikari Morcha (JLKM) have won 1 seat each.

BJP’s CP Singh is inching closer to secure his seventh consecutive win from the Ranchi Sadar seat. He is currently leading by 23,000 votes in the 10th round.
Former Jharkhand chief minister and BJP leader Champai Soren is now leading by nearly 29,000 votes against JMM’s Ganesh Mahali in Saraikela seat.
Hemant Soren has now maintained a lead of over 23,000 votes over his nearest rival and BJP’s Gamliyel Hembrom. After the 14th round of counting in the Barhait Assembly seat, Mr Soren has polled 62,579 votes.
The INDIA bloc is now ahead in 57 seats, while the NDA leads in 23 seats.

The JMM-led INDIA bloc has extended its lead to 54 seats. The NDA is ahead in 26 seats.

The JMM-led INDIA bloc has now extended its lead to 51 seats. While the JMM is ahead in 31 seats, Congress is leading in 14, RJD in four, and CPI(ML)(L) in two.
On the other hand, the NDA is ahead in 29 seats (the BJP in 26, AJSUP, LJPRV and the JD(U) in one each).
The INDIA bloc – consisting of the ruling Jharkhand Mukti Morcha, the Congress, the Rashtriya Janata Dal and the CPI(ML)(L) – has crossed the majority mark in the Assembly election.
The BJP took an early lead after the counting of votes began at 8 am, but Chief Minister Hemant Soren’s JMM, which expressed confidence it would form the government again, fought back slowly and steadily.
Jharkhand BJP chief Babulal Marandi is leading by 10,607 votes over CPI(ML)’s Rajkumar Yadav in Dhanwar assembly seat, according to the Election Commission of India.
Mr Marandi won the Dhanwar seat in the 2019 assembly polls as a Jharkhand Vikas Morcha (Prajatantrik) candidate by defeating BJP’s Lakshman Prasad Singh. He later joined the BJP.
Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren has extended his lead to 12,818 votes over BJP’s Gamliyel Hembrom in the Barhait assembly constituency, according to the trends available on Election Commission’s website.
Jharkhand Election Results 2024: BJP now goes past JMM
The BJP has now gone past the JMM and is currently leading in 30 seats, while the JMM is ahead in 26.
As per the available trends on the EC website, the BJP is performing better in the northern areas of Jharkhand, while the JMM is leading in most of the southern areas.
When asked if any ‘precautions’ would be taken to safeguard their MLAs, former Jharkhand Congress chief Rajesh Thakur said that “predators would come and lay a bait”.
“We are prepared for that. Nobody would dare to do this in Jharkhand. Hemant Soren was jailed for destabilising the Government, even at that time we thwarted all such attempts. They should not dare to do this now. If they dare to do that, they would be given a fitting reply,” he told the news agency ANI.

The JMM-led INDIA bloc is currently leading in 50 of the 81 assembly seats in Jharkhand.
BJP nominee Champai Soren is now ahead in Seraikela by more than 26,000 votes against JMM’s Ganesh Mahli.
The Rashtriya Janata Dal has emerged as a surprise element in the Jharkhand assembly elections with its candidates leading in five of the six seats where the party contested.
In Deoghar, RJD’s Suresh Paswan is leading by 19,581 votes over his nearest rival and BJP’s sitting MLA Narayan Das.
RJD’s Sanjay Prasad Yadav is ahead by 19,867 votes in Godda over BJP MLA Amit Kumar Mandal.
In Koderma, RJD leader Subhash Prasad Yadav is leading by a margin of 3,471 votes over BJP’s sitting legislator Neera Yadav. Mr Yadav, considered to be one of the close aides of RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav, was recently granted bail by the Supreme Court in a money laundering case.
RJD nominee Naresh Prasad Singh is leading by 5,159 votes over BJP’s Bishrampur MLA Ramchandra Chandravanshi.
RJD’s Sanjay Kumar Singh Yadav is also leading from Hussainabad by 8,213 votes over BJP MLA Kamlesh Kumar Singh.
Party’s candidate Rashmi Prakash, however, is trailing from Chatra by 3,776 votes.
JMM leader and Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren’s wife Kalpana is now trailing in Gandey Assembly seat by 3,621 votes against her nearest BJP rival Muniya Devi.
Kalpana had won the seat in a bypoll on June 4 this year after it fell vacant following the resignation of JMM MLA Sarfaraz Ahmad.
Jharkhand news live: RJD ahead of BJP in 5 of 6 seats it is contesting
The RJD is ahead of the BJP in five of the six Jharkhand assembly seats it contested. It is leading in Deoghar, Godda, Kodarma, Bishrampur and Hussainabad.
The JMM-led INDIA bloc is currently leading in 48 of the 81 assembly seats in Jharkhand, according to latest trends available on the Election Commission’s website.
According to the trends, the BJP-headed NDA is ahead in 31, while an independent and JLKM lead in one seat each.
Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren is now leading in the Barhait assembly constituency by a margin of 4,921 votes over BJP’s Gamliyel Hembrom.
NDA ally AJSU Party chief Sudesh Mahto is currently trailing by 3,998 votes in Silli after the second round of counting.
Congress incharge for Jharkhand Ghulam Ahmad Mir, party’s observers for the state Tariq Anwar, Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka and Krishna Allavuru and former state Congress chief Rajesh Thakur hold a meeting in Ranchi as counting continues. The INDIA bloc has currently surged ahead of the NDA.

The INDIA bloc, which was trailing since the counting began at 8 am, has now made a stunning comeback and is now leading in 50 seats, well above the majority mark of 41.
The NDA, which looked comfortable to retain the power, has dropped to 27.

A total of 1,211 candidates are in the fray, including Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren contested from the Barhait assembly seat, and his wife, Kalpana Soren, fought from Gandey.
Leader of Opposition and BJP leader Amar Kumar Bauri contested from the Chandankiyari seat, and his party colleague Babulal Marandi from Dhanwar.
Speaker and JMM’s Rabindra Nath Mahato fought from Nala.
Other prominent leaders included Deepika Pandey Singh of Congress from Mahagama, Sita Soren (sister-in-law of Hemant Soren) from Jamtara, AJSU Party chief Sudesh Mahto from Silli, and former chief minister Champai Soren from Seraikela.
Ahead of the counting of votes for the Jharkhand elections, JMM candidate from the Ranchi seat Mahua Maji said she is “fully confident” that the people of Ranchi will “definitely” elect us.
“I have seen trust for me in their eyes. I will definitely fulfil their expectations and dreams,” she told the news agency ANI.

The ruling JMM in Jharkhand has written to the Election Commission and demanded the suspension of internet services within 2 km radius of the counting centres. The Hemant Soren-led party has also demanded a ban on electronic gadgets near the counting centres.
The counting of votes for the 81-member Jharkhand assembly is scheduled on Saturday across 24 centres in the state.
If exit polls are to be believed for the Jharkhand elections results, the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) is likely to win 42-47 seats, while the Mahagathbandhan (Grand Alliance) may get 25-30 seats.
Votes will also be counted for the Maharashtra assembly elections and for the bypolls to 48 Assembly seats in 14 states and in the Lok Sabha segments of Nanded in Maharashtra and Wayanad in Kerala.

The votes for the Jharkhand assembly elections will be counted shortly with various exit polls predicting a victory for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and its allies. The counting of votes is expected to start around 8 am.
Jharkhand voted in two phases – November 13 for 43 seats and November 20 for 38 seats – and witnessed an overall voter turnout of about 67 per cent, which was 1.65 per cent higher than the 2019 poll figures.
