Hyderabad: Amidst repeated appeals from BRS benches to provide them an opportunity to speak, Assembly Speaker G Prasad Kumar suspended BRS MLA G Jagadish Reddy from the House for the remainder of the budget session.
This was after the furore in the Assembly when Jagadish Reddy alleged bias on part of the Speaker.
Protesting against the Speaker’s decision, the BRS members staged a walkout even as Harish Rao repeatedly appealed to the Speaker to provide them with an opportunity to speak. Qutbullapur MLA KP Vivekanand also approached the well seeking an opportunity to speak.
In reply, the Speaker directed the BRS Members to cooperate in running the House properly.
“If not, you will be forcing me to take action,” he said.
This was after Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka and Irrigation Minister N Uttam Kumar Reddy appealed to the Speaker to refer the issue to the Ethics Committee. Based on the committee’s recommendations, they said, action may be taken against the member.
Legislative Affairs Minister D Sridhar Babu alleged comments by the BRS members against the Chair were objectionable and as per Assembly rules, Jagadish Reddy should be suspended from the House for the remainder of the session, to which the Speaker agreed.
