Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday (January 17, 2025) inaugurated the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025, the largest mobility expo in India, which is expected to witness over 100 new launches across automobiles, component products and technologies.

PM Modi recalls the legacy of the Late Osamu Suzuki, the former chairman of Suzuki Motor Corporation, and the Late Ratan Tata, Chairman Emeritus, Tata Son. He says their legacy will inspire India’s mobility sector.

“Several factors will push auto sector growth in the country. These include the country’s large population, growing middle class, fast urbanisation, infrastructure development, make in India vehicles.” said PM Modi.

He said, “Growth in demand for vehicles is also propelled by the government’s infrastructure spending. Last year the government set aside ₹11 lakh crore in infrastructure spending. Today there is a web of highways and expressways.”

The five-day expo is being held across three venues: Bharat Mandapam and Yashobhoomi in the national capital and India Expo Center and Mart, Greater Noida.

“PM Gati Shakti is also providing an impetus to multi-modal connectivity. This will reduce the logistics cost and India will be the most competitive country in logistics cost. These open multiple doors for the auto sector,” PM Modi said.

Highlighting the need for mobility solutions, Mr. Modi said, “Our mobility solutions should have 7 Cs: Common, Connected, Convenient, Congestion Free, Charged, Clean or Cutting Edge”.

“To reduce import bills on fossil fuels we are focusing on developing technologies for EVs, Hydrogen Fuel, Biofuels. This vision includes the National Electric Mobility Mission and Green Hydrogen Mission.”, said PM Modi.

Talking about the growth in sales of EVs in the country, Mr. Modi said, “In the last decade, their sales have seen a 640% growth. Ten years ago annual sale of EVs were at 2600. In 2024 there were more than 16.8 lakh EV sales. This means we see twice the sales on a single day as compared to what we saw per year.”

“By the end of the decade, EV sales are projected to grow by 8 times.” he said. “The automotive industry is innovation and technology driven. Be it innovation, tech, skill or demand, the future belongs to the East, Asia and India.”, he added.

Mr. Modi inaugurated the Expo at Bharat Mandapam in the presence of Union Ministers Nitin Gadkari, H.D. Kumaraswamy, Jitan Ram Manjhi, Manohar Lal, Piyush Goyal and Hardeep Singh Puri, and leaders of the automobile sectors.

It will have 5,100 international participants and is estimated to attract more than 5 lakh visitors from across the globe. Overall, more than 40 new product launches are expected at this main attraction of Bharat Mobility Global Expo, 2025. Over 60 new product and technology launches are expected at the components show.
