Hyderabad: Hyderabad Cybercrime officials nabbed Akash Varma, an electrician from Uttar Pradesh, on charges of cheating a city-based investor to the tune of Rs 1.4 crore on the pretext of investments in stocks promising high returns.
He is involved in 30 cases across India, including four cases in Telangana.
According to the police, the complainant was asked to download a link and gradually invest money from smaller amounts to huge sums.
They initially showed him good profits. They further asked him to send 10 per cent of the total profit and he genuinely deposited the amounts totaling to Rs 1.4 crore over a period of time.
Later, they blocked him from withdrawing the money.
Based on a complaint, the Cybercrime Police booked a case and arrested the suspect.
