Hyderabad: The South Central Railway (SCR) has issued an advisory to rail passengers on ticket cancellation and refund process for cancelled trains.
As per the Railway Refund Rules, in case of full cancellation of a train due to accidents, breaches, floods, bandh or rail roko etc., in unavoidable circumstances, the reservation ticket booked through PRS counter should be surrendered at PRS counter of any railway station within three days of the scheduled departure of the train.
On submission of the same, full fare paid is refundable to the passenger for the entire journey without any cancellation charges.
In case of tickets booked through online means i.e., e-ticket, the ticket will be cancelled automatically and the full refund of fare will be processed through IRCTC and credited to the bank account concerned.
The information regarding the change in the pattern of train services will be conveyed to the rail users through various medium. Hence, it is advised to provide the mobile numbers of the bonafide passengers only, while booking the tickets, SCR said in a press release.
