Hyderabad: The Hyderabad police on Thursday arrested four persons for allegedly cheating people after collecting money from them on pretext of arranging double bedroom flats that are provided to poor families.
The arrested are M Jyothi (49), P Sunil Singh (43), G Ramesh (43) and L Nithin Kumar (23), all residents of Chatrinaka.
According to the police, the gang contacted people who were staying in rented houses and assured to arrange double bedroom houses that are provided to BPL families by the government. The gang collected Aadhaar card, family group photo and took an amount between Rs. 10,000 to Rs. 20,000 from the people assuring to get flats sanctioned to them at the earliest.
When people started pressuring them for the flats, Jyothi and Sunil created fake letters of allotment of flats and handed the papers to the double bedroom flat aspirants, said A Srinivasa Rao, Additional DCP Task Force.
