The All India Dental Students Association (AIDSA) and All India Dental Surgeons Association (AIDSA – Surgeons Wing) on Monday submitted memorandum to State Dental Council urging it to take immediate measures to eradicate dental quackery.

Hyderabad: Dental students from Telangana State on Monday approached Telangana State Dental Council, urging the statutory body, which regulates dental profession, to take strict action against individuals practicing quackery in dental health care services.
The All India Dental Students Association (AIDSA) and All India Dental Surgeons Association (AIDSA – Surgeons Wing) on Monday submitted memorandum to State Dental Council urging it to take immediate measures to eradicate dental quackery.
“Unqualified practitioners pose sever risks to public health and tarnish the credibility of dental profession. Dental quacks often fail to sterilize instruments properly, leading to the transmission of serious infections such as Hepatitis B, C, and HIV,” says Dr. MD Manzur, national president of AIDSA.
Incorrect treatments and the use of substandard materials by quacks have resulted in several dental patients developing oral cancers and other severe complications. Unqualified practitioners lack the necessary training, often misdiagnosing conditions and performing hazardous procedures that can cause permanent damage, AIDSA said.
The letters demand that state DCI offices enforce existing regulations more rigorously, initiate legal proceedings against offenders, and conduct awareness campaigns to educate public about the dangers of consulting unqualified practitioners.
The associations appealed to the government, health authorities, and the general public to support the cause against dental quackery, stressing the importance of seeking treatment only from registered and qualified dental professionals.
