Hyderabad: The Domalguda police along with the Commissioner’s Task Force arrested a man who was on the run for last eight months after allegedly murdering an elderly woman at her house.

Mahesh Kumar Mukhiya (26), a native of Bihar came to the city in December last year and worked as a construction worker for a brief period.


Through a reference, Mukhiya got a job of a care taker at the house of a businessman Savarya Pawan Guptha, and was asked to take care of the employer’s mother Snehalatha Devi.

Mukhiya, observed the movements of the family members. He gathered information about the property and other valuables kept in the house. “On January 31, on getting an opportunity, Mukhiya, along with his accomplice tied the hands and legs of the woman and gagged her by putting a piece of cloth in her mouth. They collected gold, cash and other valuables from the house and fled away. The elderly woman, however, died due to suffocation,” said DCP Task Force, Y V S Sudheendra.

A case was registered and the man was absconding since then. A special team of Task Force and Domalguda police managed to nab him while his associate is still absconding.
