Hyderabad: On the occasion of Earth Day 2025, a Climate Smart Harit Campus campaign, an ambitious and visionary initiative by the Institute for Environment Conservation and Advocacy (IECA), was launched.
The campaign aims to transform educational institutions across Telangana into eco-conscious, energy-smart campuses that champion sustainability and climate responsibility. The launch by Minister for Environment, Konda Surekha, was marked by the unveiling of an impactful awareness poster, symbolizing the commitment of Telangana’s educational sector to lead the charge in building a cleaner, greener planet.
The Climate Smart Harit Campus campaign is designed to integrate environmental thinking into every facet of campus life. The key components include adoption of solar and other renewable energy solutions, implementation of effective waste segregation and recycling systems, water harvesting and conservation techniques, tree planting and biodiversity protection drives, energy audits and eco-friendly infrastructure redesign and climate change awareness activities and student-led green initiatives.
“This campaign is more than a symbolic gesture — it is a roadmap for institutional change,” said Dr. Sumalini, Executive Director of IECA.
