Hyderabad: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials on Wednesday caught two officials of the commercial tax department red handed when they allegedly demanded and accepted a bribe of Rs. 50,000.
The two Mahaboob Basha, Assistant Commissioner (ST) Malakpet II Circle, Hyderabad and Soma Shehkar, Assistant Tax Officer, Malakpet – II Circle had demanded the bribe for ‘issuing the letter to de-freeze the bank account of a person’, said the ACB in a press release. Both the officials were arrested and produced before the court.
In another case, two sanitary field assistants of the GHMC Circle 18 were caught red handed when they demanded and accepted a bribe of Rs. 25,000 from a coffee shop owner. The amount was demanded by them for not imposing a fine on the shop, said ACB. The field sanitary field assistants – Mohd Saleem Khan and G Ramesh, were arrested before the court.
