Hyderabad: In recognition of her contributions to literacy and community service, 13-year-old Akarshana Sathish has received invitations to attend the Republic Day celebrations in New Delhi and at the Raj Bhavan’s At-Home Reception in Hyderabad for the second consecutive year.

Akarshana, a 8th grade student at The Hyderabad Public School, Begumpet, has gained national recognition for her pioneering work in establishing over 18 libraries across Telangana and Tamil Nadu. Her innovative Metro Library project, set to launch in March 2025, further underscores her commitment to making books accessible to underserved communities, a press release said.


Through her initiatives, Akarshana has provided the much-needed reading resources to children in hospitals, orphanages, and police stations, positively impacting thousands of lives.

The release said this year, Akarshana has been invited by the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting to attend the Republic Day celebrations at Kartavya Path in New Delhi and that the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) specifically recommended Akarshana’s name, recognising her contributions to literacy and community service.
