Hyderabad: Former Minister and senior BRS MLA T Harish Rao raised alarm over a series of suicides among police personnel in Telangana, citing recent incidents involving officers and constables from Mulugu, Siddipet, Kamareddy, Sircilla, and Medak.

He said the situation was deeply troubling, questioning the government’s indifference to the safety and well-being of the police force.

“The custodians of public safety taking their own lives, is a matter of grave concern,” he remarked. He attributed the trend to mounting work pressure and the government’s neglect in addressing long-pending issues affecting the police.

Calling for immediate measures, Harish Rao urged the Telangana DGP to conduct a thorough departmental investigation into the suicides. He also demanded the Congress government to provide psychological counseling for police personnel to prevent further tragedies.

He also reminded the police personnel that suicide was not a solution to their problems. “You earned these positions through hard work. Do not betray the trust your families. Society’s safety depends on your self-confidence and dedication,” he advised.
