Sangareddy: Grand arrangements were in place for the annual Mothi Matha jathara at Upparipalli Thanda in Mogudampally Mandal.

The two-day annual jathara of Mothi Matha, a tribal goddess, will attract devotees from Telangana, Karnataka, Maharashtra, and Andhra Pradesh.

The jathara is being organised for the 30th consecutive year. The festivities will commence on January 12 when the tribals from across Zaheerabad will offer Navideyam to the presiding deity.

Tribals will carry a religious flag from their village to reach the temple by walk. They will travel on bullock carts from their thandas to offer prayers. Meanwhile, traders set up shops as the temple management was busy making arrangements. The temple management unveiled the posters of jathara on Thursday which will be passed across the Zaheerabad area.

Honorary president of temple Kishanrao Pawar said they were expecting at least three lakh turnouts of devotees during the two-day celebrations. The district administration directed the officials to ensure the festivities were organised without any issues.

While the health department was going to set up a medical camp, the mission Bagiaratha officials were gearing up to provide safe drinking water.

The police department will deploy additional forces to streamline devotee influx and traffic.
