Odisha’s former chief minister, Giridhar Gamang, and others joined the BRS, in a step towards constituting the party’s Odisha unit.
Gamang, his wife Hema Gamang, son Shishir Gamang, and other leaders from Odisha joined the BRS in the presence of party president and Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao at the BRS headquarters, Telangana Bhavan, in Hyderabad on Friday.
Earlier this month, KCR formed the Andhra Pradesh unit, making Thota Chandrasekhar, a retired
IAS-turned-businessman-turned politician, the BRS’s AP head.
“Bharat Rashtra Samiti (BRS) is floated with a determination to change India’s future by changing the thoughts and ideologies in the country. We welcome the brothers and sisters from Odisha to join the big fight on that great journey. Their joining gives a big strength to the BRS,” KCR said on Friday.
Reiterating his reasons for launching the BRS, KCR rued that “despite being blessed with abundant resources, more than America and China, India is falling back.”
“(With BRS entry), the country’s politics will undergo drastic changes. People should win elections, not parties or leaders. Then only democracy can flourish in the country,” KCR said, promising a “Kisan Sarkar, Ab Ki Baar.”
