The counting of votes for the Delhi assembly elections commenced on Saturday with top AAP leaders such as party chief Arvind Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia, and current Delhi Chief Minister Atishi trailing in the early session.

In the New Delhi constituency, Kejriwal is trailing BJP’s Parvesh Verma, while Sisodia is feeling the heat in Jangpura from BJP’s Parwinder Marwah. Atishi is trailing BJP’s Ramesh Bidhuri in the Kalkaji constituency.

However, AAP’s Gopal Rai, who is also the Transport Minister, is leading from Babarpur. Amanatullah Khan from AAP is leading in Okhla.

According to the Election Commission of India (ECI), the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) was leading in 19 seats, while the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) was leading in 5 seats as of 9:15 am in the early phase of counting.

However, TV channels and agencies were giving BJP the lead in 44 seats, while AAP was leading in 21 and Congress in one seat.

Election officials will count roughly 94.51 lakh votes that were cast in the single-phase election, which witnessed a three-cornered contest between the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and the challengers—Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Congress.
