Bengaluru rains live updates: BJP flays ruling Cong for celebrating 2 years in office as Bengaluru battles floods
The BJP in Karnataka on Tuesday slammed the ruling Congress for organising ‘Sadhana Samavesha’ event to celebrate the party’s two years in office, in Vijayanagara district even as Bengaluru was reeling under severe flooding caused by relentless rains since Sunday night.
Senior Congress leaders including Rahul Gandhi and party chief Mallikarjun Kharge attended the event in Hospet, the district headquarter town of Vijayanagara.
Addressing reporters, Leader of Opposition in the Karnataka Assembly R Ashoka said, “There is a flood situation in Bengaluru and elsewhere in Karnataka. We are seeing Bengaluru being submerged in rains. People are suffering. But the ruling Congress leaders, instead of handling the situation, have gone to Ballari to celebrate their two years in the government.” Ashoka headed a team of BJP leaders that visited the rain-affected areas in the city.
Several areas in the city were inundated forcing the residents to flee their homes for safety. At least five people lost their lives in the state, including three in Bengaluru due to rains.
The LoP alleged that the Congress is celebrating its achievements following the death of the five people, for which it should be ashamed. – PTI

For the past week, the focus has been on colourful, guarantee-filled advertisements instead of real governance.” Kumaraswamy stated that Bengaluru’s citizens are living in what he called a “branded hell,” adding that the city is suffering while its leaders are obsessed with publicity campaigns.

Bengaluru Rains Live Updates: IMD issues orange alert for Bengaluru
India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for Bengaluru and a yellow alert at various places across Karnataka on Tuesday.
An orange alert means very heavy rain of 11 cm to 20 cm, and a yellow alert means heavy rainfall between 6 cm and 11 cm.
IMD Bengaluru Centre Director N Puviarasu said they have issued an orange alert for Bengaluru for the impact 8 cm to 10 cm that will likely affect the big city.
“The amount of rainfall we are receiving is nothing for rural areas. But because cities like Bengaluru are concretised mostly, and thus blocking the outlets for water drainage, we have issued an orange alert so that authorities can prepare accordingly,” he said. – PTI
