Mancherial: A leader of auto-rickshaw drivers association alleged that he was assaulted by four drivers and two unidentified persons for plying his vehicle in the town on Tuesday.
Mitta Srinivas, a leader of the association from Bellampalli said that he was beaten up by one Kumar, Praveen, Tirupathi, Mallesh and two unknown persons for operating his vehicle in the district headquarters.
He said that the assaulters found fault with him for plying the three-wheeler in a place assigned to other drivers of the town.
The leader further said that he lodged a complaint with police. He stated that he was undergoing treatment at the government general hospital in the district centre.
He regretted that the auto-rickshaw drivers from Bellampalli and other parts of the district were being targeted by local drivers for allowing passengers to hire the vehicles.
