Hyderabad: Warm-hearted nurses of Aster Prime Hospital showing compassion for the underprivileged and homeless shivering in the cold on city streets, stepped forward to extend a helping hand.

Around 50 homeless individuals in the SR Nagar area received blankets as part of this initiative. Nearly 120 nurses pooled contributions from their earnings to purchase these blankets and distributed them for free to those living on the streets.

Deciding to celebrate the New Year in a meaningful way by providing relief to the homeless from the biting cold, the nurses on Tuesday evening visited the SR Nagar area and distributed blankets to 50 individuals sleeping on the streets.

Aster Prime Hospital’s Nursing Superintendent, Lindamol Joy, said their team usually celebrates Christmas and New Year with traditional festivities but decided this time to focus on supporting the underprivileged.

“The idea came up in our nursing group, and all our ‘Angel Nurses’ willingly contributed what they could. We used these funds to buy blankets and distribute them to those in need,” she said.

Nurse Educator Rahul Kumar added, “even we, who have everything, find it hard to endure the cold. Imagine the plight of the homeless who lack even basic shelter.”
