AP’s NDA Govt pegs Budget for FY26 at ₹3.22 lakh crore balancing welfare, development

The NDA Government in Andhra Pradesh led by N Chandrababu Naidu pegged the Budget outlay for the year 2025-26 at ₹3,22,359 crore crore.

In his second budget presentation in the Assembly in Amaravati on Friday, State Finance Minister Payyavula Keshav estimated revenue expenditure at ₹2,51,162 crore and capital expenditure at 40,635 crore. The fiscal deficit is at ₹4.38 percent while revenue deficit has been projected at 1.82 percent. 

He presented his first budget for the year 2024-25 with an outlay of ₹2.94 lakh crore in November last year after two interim budgets after NDA Government assumed power in July 2024

WELFARE

In the first full-budget of the NDA government presented today, the pre-poll welfare schemes promised by the NDA Alliance have been given primacy with allocations for Annadatha Sukhibhava for providing ₹20,000 per farmer per annum and Thalliki Vandanam.

“To encourage every mother to send her children to school, we will launch Thalliki Vandanam.from the 2025-26 academic year for students enrolled in Government and Private schools for Class 1st to 12th,’‘ Keshav said. The budget allocated ₹15,000 crore for the scheme. 

The increase in financial support for fishermen will be increased from  ₹10,000 to ₹20,000 from next fiscal in line with the manifesto of NDA alliance, the Minister said. 

Other key welfare allocations proposed in the budget are ₹20,281 crore for welfare of Scheduled Castes, ₹8,159 crore for Scheduled Tribes, ₹47,456 crore for Backward Castes and ₹5,434 crore for minorities. 

INDUSTRIES

“To accelerate industrial growth and build a robust investment ecosystem, our government has unveiled a series of forward-looking policy initiatives. Our government has secured investment commitments worth ₹6.3 lakh crore with potential of 4 lakh jobs,’‘ the Minister said while proposing to allocated ₹3,156 crore to Industries & Commerce 

VIABILITY GAP

The Minister also announced provision for a Viability Gap Funding Scheme for Public Private Partnership (PPP) projects for up to 20 per cent of the project cost to any Department, beyond the existing budgetary allocation with a corpus of ₹2,000 crore dedicated for the VGF scheme.

AGRICULTURE

The total budget outlay for Agriculture and allied sectors in Andhra Pradesh for the financial year 2025-26 is proposed for ₹48,341.14 crore. Presenting a separate agriculture budget, K Atchannaidu said agriculture will be one of of the key drivers for development of the State. The State Government was working towards Swarnandhra Pradesh by 2047 with an aim to make the farmers wealthy, he added.
