Hyderabad: Several BRS leaders and some elected representatives have called on party president and former chief minister K. Chandrashekar Rao to share with him their dismay over some BRS MLAs leaving the party and joining the ruling Congress.
The visits came a day after a fifth BRS MLA, Dr Sanjay Kumar representing Jagtial constituency joined the Congress on Sunday. Just a couple of days before that, former Speaker and senior leader in the party Pocharam Srinivas Reddy had joined the BRS. Earlier, three other BRS MLAs, Danam Nagender, Prakash Goud, and Tellam Venkat Rao had joined the ruling party.
Among those who called on Chandrashekar Rao at his farm house in Erravalli village on Monday were former minister and Suryapet MLA G. Jagadish Reddy, the party’s Rajya Sabha member V. Ravichandra, MLAs Kova Laxmi, Anil Jadav, MLCs Challa Venkatram Reddy, Bhanu Prasad, and some former MLAs and other leaders.
Chandrashekar Rao is believed to have told his party leaders not to lose heart and that the party has seen several ups and downs and there was no need to feel disheartened over the exits from the party. He is also learnt to have told the BRS leaders that he would very soon take steps to strengthen and revive the party.
