Budget airline IndiGo’s parent InterGlobe Aviation posted a net profit of ₹3,067 crore for the fourth quarter of financial year 2025, and net profit of ₹7,258 crore for FY25.

While the Q4 profit saw a 62% year-on-year growth, the annual net profit declined by 11%.

The airline netted a total income of ₹23,097 crore in Q4, which was 24.8% higher than Q4 FY24, said IndiGo CEO Pieter Elbers during a post results call with analysts. The airline’s performance was aided by a robust travel demand, with passenger numbers growing by 21%, or 3.2 crore, for IndiGo last fiscal.

On the sticking point of airline’s partnership with Turkish Airlines under which IndiGo uses two Boeing 777 aircraft to provide flights to Istanbul from Delhi and Mumbai, and further allows passengers to connect to destinations in Europe and the U.S. through a codeshare agreement with the former, Pieter said, “our flight operations to Istanbul are within the framework of the air service agreement signed between India and Turkey. We are compliant with all regulatory norms.”

He added that there were thousands of customers booked on flights beyond Istanbul, and it was upto the government to decide on the future of the wet lease tie-up that allows IndiGo to lease Turkish Airline’s aircraft along with its crew. There has been a public outcry for boycotting Turkey following its military support to Pakistan during the strikes on the Indo-Pak border earlier this month.

IndiGo was also forced to cancel 170 flights a day for the 6-day period during which India closed down 32 airports in the north and north western parts of the country starting midnight of May 7.

The airline’s chief financial officer, Gaurav Negi, said that geo-political factors, an oblique reference to recent military tensions, led to cancellations as well as an impact on booking trends from April 22 onwards, but this was beginning to reverse. IndiGo is hopeful that normalcy will return by May end and June. Terrorists attacked Pahalgam on April 22, killing 26 men. On April 24, Pakistan closed its airspace for all Indian aircraft.
