India Pakistan Attack Live Updates: A blackout was enforced and sirens went off after artillery firing and explosions were heard in Jammu this evening. Explosions were heard in Rajasthan’s Barmer, Pokhran and Jaisalmer. Drones were spotted in several parts of Punjab.
Pakistan’s armed forces launched multiple attacks using drones and other munitions along the entire western border on the intervening night of Thursday and Friday, which were “effectively repulsed”, the Indian Army has said.
Besides, the Pakistani troops resorted to “numerous ceasefire violations” along the Line of Control in Jammu & Kashmir and, in return, got a “befitting reply,” it added.
The developments came amid increasing hostilities between the two countries, initially triggered by the Pahalgam terror attack. India has pointed at Pakistan’s role in the attack, a charge dismissed by the neighbouring country.
On Friday, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh conducted a comprehensive review of national security with the top military leadership and held discussions with top officials. A high alert was sounded in Delhi, and all city government employees’ leaves have been cancelled. Several district administrations in Punjab have issued orders to enforce blackouts during night hours. Around 27 airports in various parts of the country have been shut.
India on Wednesday, under the codename ‘Operation Sindoor’, unleashed 24 missiles in 25 minutes on nine terror bases in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK) in response to the Pahalgam attack that killed 26 people. In the intervening night of Wednesday and Thursday, it foiled Pakistan’s attempt to engage a number of military targets across 15 cities in northern and western India using drones and missiles.
