Based on a complaint lodged by Stray Animal Foundation of India, police registered a case against the pet shop located opposite Geetha Bhavan Hotel

KARIMNAGAR: Karimnagar Town-II police registered a case against Karimnagar pet shop for operating the pet shop under extremely unhygienic and cruel conditions. Based on the complaint lodged by animal cruelty prevention assistant with the Stray Animal Foundation of India, Sri Vidhaya Kotala, police on Monday registered the case against pet shop located opposite Geetha Bhavan Hotel here by obtaining permission from the court.
The case was registered under the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act 1960 r/w the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (pet shop) Rules-2018, section 11(1), (a),(k), 38(3), section 3(5) of BNS-2023. On Tuesday, the birds were seized from the premises. Sri Vidhya said that Animal Rights Activist, Maneka Gandhi, spoke to the Town-II Inspector over the issue. Earlier, two FIRs were filed against the same pet shop following complaints lodged by Adulapuram Goutham, manager of the same organisation.
