Khammam: Two minors, who had just appeared for their SSC exams, drowned in river Munneru in Khammam on Thursday.
Benvith and Kiran, both aged 14 years and hailing from the pumping well area under the limits of the Three-Town police station in the city went swimming in Munneru near Danavaigudem. They left their homes telling their parents that they were going to play cricket.
However, as they could not gauge the depth of the waters, both drowned in Munneru. After learning about the incident, the local police engaged expert swimmers to search for the bodies and recovered them. A pall of gloom descended on the pumping well area with the death of the boys.
