Hyderabad: Redditor exposes JioHotstar’s best kept secret. A ‘Karen’ has now spoiled the fun of cricket buffs who watch live telecast of IPL matches on JioHotstar. (In today’s Gen Z slang ‘Karen’ is a person who always spoils fun moments of the people around him/her.)
An anonymous person on Reddit has recently revealed about a bug on the JioHotstar application. According to other Redditors, that bug allowed the cricket buffs watching the live cricket matches on the OTT platform to watch the matches without the advertisements.
As the ongoing IPL craze surrounded people across the country, JioHotstar is offering live telecast of all the cricket matches. Periodically, advertisements are inserted in the live coverage, more so whenever a milestone is reached like when a wicket is taken. Even paid subscribers were forced to watch the advertisements.
But here came the fun part of it. There indeed was a bug that enabled the watchers to skip the advertisements and watch the live feed without any interruption. All they had to do was to switch over the feature called multicam feed watch the live telecast without any ads or disruptions.
But the spoiler came, when JioHotstar fixed the bug soon after the reddit post went viral. Apparently, some tech guy working for the OTT platform noticed on the Reddit post and got the bug fixed leaving cricket fans fretting and fuming.
With the secret being unveiled, other Redditors are expressing anger. They are slamming the person for keeping the ‘secret’ out and spoiling their ‘fun’.
“Came across a post earlier where a user revealed the mutually kept secret of JioHotstar multicam bug which lets you watch IPL ads free. I knew that it was all over at that moment and now I can see that they fixed it. No between overs footage anymore. Thanks for ruining it for everyone anon,” (sic) a Reddit account, Indiasocial, said.
“Same. The moment I saw the post here I knew that it will take a day max for it to be fixed,” another user lamented.
