Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) has reiterated its determination to oppose the upcoming delimitation exercise, and its MPs will work alongside INDIA bloc MPs and other pro-democracy leaders to safeguard Tamil Nadu’s parliamentary representation and state rights.

At a high-level meeting chaired by DMK president and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin at the party headquarters here on Sunday, DMK MPs resolved to raise the issue strongly in Parliament when the session begins on March 10, 2025. Stalin emphasised the need for a collective pushback from all affected states to resist potential changes that could disproportionately impact Tamil Nadu and other southern states.

The DMK also decided to build a broader coalition by reaching out to political parties from states that could lose parliamentary seats, including Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, Telangana, Odisha, West Bengal and Punjab.

A separate resolution also highlighted Tamil Nadu’s ongoing disputes with the Union government, accusing it of withholding financial allocations, imposing Hindi and failing to provide clarity on the delimitation process. The DMK MPs reiterated their commitment to raising these concerns forcefully in Parliament to ensure that Tamil Nadu’s interests are not undermined in the upcoming electoral restructuring.
