Dabur India Ltd has got environment clearance (EC) to put up a plant in Villupuram district in Tamil Nadu at a cost of ₹400 crore. The plant will manufacture a range of products, including honey, toothpaste, odonil, gulabri (rose water) fruit juices, coconut water and oils for the southern markets.
On December 18, 2024, the company submitted the application for EC. The approval was granted on January 11, sources said.
The proposed project involves the construction of an industrial building at Kollar Village, Tindivanam Taluk, Villupuram District.
In August 2024, Dabur signed an an MoU with the the Tamil Nadu government. In the first phase, it then said that it would invest ₹135 crore in the manufacturing facility, which will be scaled up to ₹400 crore over a period of five years. The plant is expected to become operational within a year.
The plan is expected to generate direct employment for around 250 people, besides creating thousands of indirect job opportunities, the company said.
