Nirmal: Enraged over the persistent demand for repayment of a hand loan, a youngster attacked and slit the throat of a 28-year-old here on Friday, police said. The woman Divya, a nurse working in a private hospital, is admitted to a hospital, where her condition is stated to be improving.
Police said Battu Santosh owed Rs 16 lakh to Divya and he was offended when she demanded repayment of the loan. When she was persisting with her demand to repay the loan, Santosh waited for an opportunity and attaced her when she was going home from the hospital.
He allegedly used a surgical blade to attack her. Nirmal Inspector Praveen Kumar said the nurse sustained a gash on her neck and when she raised a hue and cry and as locals gathered, Santosh fled the scene.
A case under Section 324 (causing injuries) of the IPC was registered against Santosh.
