Adilabad: It is neither a hill station, nor a valley, but nondescript Arli (T) village in Bheempur mandal has been drawing headlines for seeing a record-level minimum temperatures in Telangana state.

Bounded by the Penganga river in one direction and forests in another direction, Arli (T) is populated by 2,000 people. While no other village situated in the same landscape records such a freezing minimum temperature, only this settlement remains in the news for reeling under the severe cold weather conditions. It is around 35 kilometers away from district headquarters.

Golli Rama Bai, former sarpanch said that minimum temperatures of the village hovers around 6 degrees Celsius during winters. She recalled that the village saw the minimum temperature of 3.6 degrees Celsius in 2020 and at 6.3 degrees Celsius on December 15 this year. She opined people were habituated to cope with the chilling weather over a period of time.

Meanwhile, voluntary organisations distribute blankets to elderly men and women of the village. Dentists Associations gave away blankets to senior citizens recently.
