Maharashtra, Jharkhand Election Results 2024 Live Updates: All eyes are on the counting of votes and results of the high-stakes Maharashtra and Jharkhand assembly elections, which began at 8 am today. In both the states, the BJP-led NDA and the Opposition INDIA bloc parties have locked horns in a fierce battle.
In the 288-seat Maharashtra assembly election, the key contest is between the Chief Minister Eknath Shinde-led Mahayuti alliance – BJP, Shiv Sena and the NCP (Ajit Pawar faction), and the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) – Congress, Shiv Sena (UBT) and the NCP (Sharad Pawar faction). Most of the exit polls have predicted a win for the Mahayuti alliance – which is aiming to retain power – by a huge margin, against the MVA.
This is the first assembly election since the Shiv Sena and NCP split into rival factions led by Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar.
In the 81-seat Jharkhand assembly election, the ruling JMM-led INDIA bloc is seeking to retain the state, while the BJP-led NDA alliance aims to wrest it from the ruling alliance. While some of the exit polls have predicted an edge to the NDA alliance in Jharkhand, some have also predicted a hung assembly.
Apart from these, results of the bypolls in 15 assembly seats spread across Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Kerala, and Uttarakhand will also be declared today.

Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren’s JMM party and the BJP and in a close contest in the state assembly elections.
According to the latest Election Commission data, JMM is leading on 30 seats, while the BJP is leading on 27 seats.

Maharashtra Election Result 2024: “This is a landslide victory,” says Eknath Shinde as NDA inches closer to victory
Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde said that it is a “landslide victory” for the NDA as the alliance inches closer to victory in the state. He also thanked the voters for their support in the elections.
Amit Thackeray, MNS leader Raj Thackeray’s son, is trailing in the Mahim assembly constituency in Maharashtra.
He is involved in a triangular contest with Shiv Sena’s Sadanand Sarvankar and Mahesh Sawant of Sena (UBT) – who is leading.
Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and BJP’s Chandrashekhar Bawankule hug each other as NDA inches closer to victory in Maharashtra. According to the latest trends, NDA is leading on 224 seats, while the Maha Vikas Aghadi is leading on 54 seats.
Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren’s party Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) is leading on 30 seats, while the BJP is leading on 27 seats.
The BJP is leading on majority of the seats in Maharashtra at 124, following by the Shiv Sena (Eknath Shinde) at 56 seats. The Shiv Sena (Uddhav Thackeray) is leading on 19 seats.
The Trinamool Congress (TMC) is leading in all six seats in West Bengal.
In West Bengal, bypolls were held on six seats – Naihati, Haroa, Medinipur, Taldangra, Sitai (SC), and Madarihat (ST).
Election 2024 results: Sanjay Raut demands re-election through ballot papers
Shiv Sena (Uddhav Thackeray faction) leader Sanjay Raut has demanded a re-election through ballot papers as the Mahayuti alliance is trailing in Maharashtra. According to him, it is “impossible” that the NDA is leading.
One of the biggest Sena vs Sena battles in Maharashtra has Aditya Thackeray, son of Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) chief Uddhav Thackeray, in a narrow lead over Milind Deora, the candidate from the Eknath Shinde faction. As of 11.30 am on Saturday, the younger Thackeray is trailing Mr Deora, a former Congress MP who jumped ship and joined the Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena in January, by a margin of 597 votes.
The Eknath Shinde-led Mahayuti alliance, or the NDA, is inching towards victory in Maharashtra. According to the latest trends, NDA is leading on 220 seats, while the Opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi is leading on 59 seats.

Maharashtra Election Result 2024: State BJP Chief Chandrashekar Bawankule leads in Kamthi
Maharashtra BJP chief Chandrashekar Bawankule leads in Kamthi assembly seat in Nagpur by 6, 421 votes.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will reach the BJP headquarters in New Delhi at 6:30 pm today.

JMM leader Mahua Majhi is trailing in the Ranchi assembly constituency.
Congress candidate Priyanka Gandhi Vadra extended her lead by over one lakh votes after two hours of counting of the ballots in the Wayanad Lok Sabha bypoll in Kerala, according to the Election Commission.
According to EC figures at around 10.20 am, Priyanka received 1,65,487 votes with LDF’s Sathyan Mokeri at second with 56,929 and BJP’s Navya Haridas third with 31,018 votes.
The bypoll for the Wayanad Lok Sabha seat was held on November 13.
Of the 16 candidates who contested, the main contenders are Priyanka, who is making her electoral debut, CPI(M)-led LDF’s Sathyan Mokeri, a political veteran, and BJP-headed NDA’s Navya Haridas.

Jharkhand Assembly Election Results: INDIA bloc takes lead with 51 seats, NDA trails
After over two hours of counting, the Opposition INDIA bloc has taken a massive lead in over 50 seats. The NDA is now trailing with 28 seats.

Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren was leading in the Barhait assembly constituency by a margin of 2,812 votes against BJP’s Gamliyel Hembrom.
In 2019, Soren contested two seats — Barhait and Dumka — and won both by a margin of 25,740 votes and 13,188 votes respectively.
Later, he vacated Dumka seat from where his brother Basant Soren got elected in the bypoll. Soren had to resign as the CM shortly before his arrest on January 31 by the ED in a money laundering case.
Election 2024: Priyanka Gandhi leads in Wayanad debut
Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi is leading from Kerala’s Wayanad constituency. She is contesting the election for the first time, after her brother, Rahul Gandhi, dropped from the Wayanad race.
Sita Soren, BJP leader and Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren’s sister-in-law is leading from the Jamtara seat, as per the early trends.
In Maharashtra, the NDA is leading in 79 seats, while the Opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi is leading in 32 seats.

Election Results 2024 LIVE: Zeeshan Siddique leads from Bandra East
NCP candidate Zeeshan Siddique is leading from the Bandra East assembly constituency. He is pitted against Shiv Sena (UBT) candidate Varun Sardesai – who is Aaditya Thackeray’s cousin.
Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren, who is currently leading from the Barhait seat, said that the counting day is a “historic day”.

The BJP-led NDA alliance is leading on 16 seats in Jharkhand, while the opposition INDIA, led by Chief Minister Hemant Soren’s JMM, is leading on six seats.
The Eknath Shinde-led Mahayuti alliance – BJP, Shiv Sena and the NCP (Ajit Pawar faction) – is leading in 30 seats in early trends. The Opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi is trailing in six seats.
The BJP-led NDA has an edge in both Maharashtra and Jharkhand as per the early leads. While NDA is leading in eight seats in Maharashtra, the Opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi is leading in five seats.

Election results 2024: Counting begins for assembly elections in Maharashtra, Jharkhand
The counting of votes have begun for the assembly elections in Maharashtra and Jharkhand. Along with this, results for 48 assembly seats in 14 states and two Lok Sabha bypoll seats will also be announced.
Key seats in focus include Worli, where Shiv Sena (UBT) scion Aaditya Thackeray, the incumbent, faces Shinde Sena’s Milind Deora. In Baramati, it’s a family showdown between Ajit Pawar and his nephew Yugendra Pawar from the NCP (SP). Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis may face a tough challenge from Congress candidate Prafful Gudadhe in his stronghold of Nagpur South West.
Shiv Sena (Uddhav Thackeray faction) MP Priyanka Chaturvedi said that people of Maharashtra will make the Uddhav Thackeray-led Maha Vikas Aghadi victorious and the alliance will make a comeback in the state.

Elections on Kerala’s Wayanad Lok Sabha seat was also held and the results will be announced today. This is the electoral debut of Congress’ Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, who is contesting in Wayanad, earlier held by her brother Rahul Gandhi.
The election was necessitated in Wayanad after Rahul Gandhi won both Wayanad and Rae Bareli seats and decided to retain the latter.

Key candidates from the JMM include: Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren, his wife Kalpana Soren, and Sita Soren. Maharashtra, Jharkhand asembly election results today, counting to begin at 8am
The counting of votes for the assembly election results in Maharashtra and Jharkhand will begin at 8 am today. In both the states, the BJP-led NDA alliance and the Opposition INDIA bloc parties have locked horns in a fierce battle.
Former Jharkhand Congress President Rajesh Thakur expressed confidence in the JMM-led alliance retaining the state.
“A short while from now, trends will start coming in. From what I can understand, the results of the work we did are going to be good. We believe that this day will decide the future of Jharkhand…We believe that we will form an even stronger government once again. We will take our schemes to the people for another five years,” he told news agency ANI.
Ajit Pawar is up against his nephew Yugendra Pawar in Baramati.
Eknath Shinde, seeking a fourth term, is up against rival Sena’s Kedar Dighe. The two will be fighting for Thane’s Kopri- Pachpakhadi seat.
Worli will witness a battle of scions. Milind Deora ( from Eknath Shinde faction) will face off against Aaditya Thackeray.
Bandra East will see Zeeshan Siddique (of Ajit Pawar faction) fight against Varun Sardesai ( from Uddhav Thackeray faction).
Mahim is a triangular fight between incumbent MLA Sada Sarvankar (Team Shinde) vs Mahesh Sawant ( Team Uddhav) vs Amit Thackeray.
Devendra Fadnavis will face off against former corporator Praful Vinodrao Gudadhe of the Congress in Nagpur South West seat. The constituency has been the bastion of the BJP since 1999.
The Jharkhand Assembly elections results, set to be announced today, promise a tense outcome as exit polls show sharply divided projections. The elections concluded on Wednesday with voting spread across two phases for 81 seats. Despite exit polls giving NDA the edge, the JMM is confident of forming government again under the leadership of Hemant Soren, with a two-thirds majority.
