Narayanpet: An elderly vegetable vendor, Balamma, suffered a heart stroke and died soon after the Municipal Commissioner warned her not to dump waste on the roadside and slapped a fine of Rs.200 on her for selling vegetables on the roadside in Makthal here on Tuesday.
She collapsed soon after Makthal Municipal Commissioner Bhogeswar levied a penalty of Rs.200 on her for selling vegetables on roadside and left the place. Before leaving the place, the Municipal Commissioner also warned Balamma that a penalty of Rs.5,000 to Rs.10,000 would be levied on her if she dumped rotten vegetables on the roadside, according to reports.
Fearing penal action by the municipality, Balamma suddenly became anxious and is said to have collapsed on the ground. Shopkeepers immediately shifted her to the government hospital where doctors said she had suffered a heart stroke and died.
